What is a textile digital product passport?
It is a digital record linked to a textile product. It can bring together the product’s identity, fibre composition, manufacturing details, care instructions and supporting documents. With PassportCraft, you publish that information as a web page and connect it to your product through a link or QR code.
Is this only for fashion brands?
No. Brands, manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and importers can use the textile fields to organise product information. Apparel, accessories and home textiles can benefit from a clearer product record. Future EU obligations will depend on the final scope of the relevant rules; the planned textile apparel act should not be assumed to cover every kind of textile.
Are textile passports mandatory already?
The EU textile-specific DPP requirements are still being developed. The European Commission indicates Q4 2027 for adoption of the textile delegated act. Adoption and application are different milestones, and timing may change. The final rules will define which products are covered and what information they must include.
Do I need all my supplier data before I start?
You can start with a draft and gather missing information as you go. The editor helps you review fields before publishing. Start with the product identity, fibre composition, manufacturer details and care instructions. A GTIN is required for publication. Add available manufacturing information and supporting evidence as you collect it.
Can I import my catalogue and update passports later?
Yes. Use the CSV template to import product records, then review them before publishing. You can also edit a passport after publication. Its existing link and QR code continue to lead to the updated information. The number of published passports you can hold depends on your plan.
Will PassportCraft fill in the information for me?
You supply the product facts. PassportCraft provides structured fields, missing-information guidance and care-symbol suggestions based on your written instructions. You review suggestions before using them. The textile workflow does not currently extract product data automatically from specification sheets or certificates.
Does publishing a passport certify my product?
No. A passport makes product information accessible; it does not independently verify the information or certify the product. You remain responsible for your data, the evidence behind your claims and the obligations that apply to your business. Existing physical labelling requirements must also be considered separately.
Which textile products will the EU digital product passport cover first?
The first textile delegated act is expected to cover apparel and clothing accessories. Footwear, home and interior textiles and technical textiles are outside its planned scope and may be addressed by later acts. The European Commission indicates Q4 2027 for adoption, with application following a transition period, so the final product list and data fields are not fixed yet.
How much does a textile digital product passport cost?
Prices are public. The Free plan costs €0 and holds up to 3 published passports. Starter is €29 a month for 50, Pro €79 for 500 and Scale €199 for 2,000, billed monthly in EUR. Every plan includes public passport pages, QR codes and CSV import, and new accounts start with a Pro trial.
